Funeral services were held on Friday, July 20, 1984, for Laura Marcks at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township. Rev. R. Zellmer officiated and burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Laura Johanna Rosenberg Marcks was born on February 6, 1894, in Mason City, Iowa, the eldest child of Edmund and Hedwig (Priem) Rosenberg. The family moved to a farm in Mitchell County in 1897 where Laura attended country school. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Laura was married to Herman Marcks on October 3, 1912, also at St. John's Lutheran Church. A son was born on June 25, 1916, but died at birth.

The couple lived on the same farm northwest of St. Ansgar in Newburg Township for 51 years. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1962 and moved to St. Ansgar in 1963. Herman passed away on April 21, 1970. Laura continued to live in her home until April 1983, when she moved into the Good Samaritan Center. She passed away on July 17, 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, infant son, her parents, a sister, Edna Runge and a brother, Eddie Rosenberg.

Survivors include four sisters, Josephine Ruechel, St. Ansgar; Alice Dieterich, Osage; Rosalyn Trudeau, Mason City; Louise Everts, Los Angeles, Calif., and two brothers, Herbert and George Rosenberg of St. Ansgar.
