Funeral services for Glenn F. Funte, age 71 were held at the Clarion Church of Christ on Wednesday, June 6, 1984. Mark Young officiated at the service, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. A Masonic service was held on Tuesday at the Eyl-Willim Funeral Home. Glenn died of a heart attack on Saturday, June 2, 1984, while fishing at Lake Cornelia.
Glenn Funte was born at McIntire, Mitchell County, Iowa, on June 8, 1912, and was the son of William and Orpha Elliott Funte. He was raised and educated in McIntire and graduated from McIntire High School in 1930.
On February 14, 1934 he was united in marriage to Elva Minnis, at Riceville. They farmed at McIntire until 1959. He then attended nursing school in Des Moines and received his LPN degree in 1962. He was first employed at Hampton and then was the Administrator of the Heritage Home in Clarion.
In 1969 he returned to work at Hampton, at the Franklin County Nursing Home until 1979. He worked at the Dows Care Center until suffering a heart attack in March of this year.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Clarion Masonic Lodge, and was a past board chairman of the Senior Citizens.
survivors include his wife, Elva; four children, Mrs. Leon (Mariel) Betts of Clarion, Mrs. Kenneth (Glenda) Harms of Osage, Eldon of Clarion and Mrs. Steve (Kris) Larson of Oelwein; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a grandchild.
