SCHRAG, Clarence 1924-1984

Funeral services for Clarence Schrag were held Wednesday, April 4, 1984, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter. Rev. E. Franke officiated at the service with burial in the Deer Creek Cemetery. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar was in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Glen Schrag was born on August 18, 1924, the son of Henry J. and Lena Schrag of Freeman, South Dakota. He was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Church.

On July 20, 1947 Clarence was united in marriage to Lorene Mae Graber. They farmed near Freeman, S.D. until moving to Carpenter. They owned and operated C&L Grocery Store until closing in Feb. 1983. He was also a meat cutter at Wilson's Foods in Albert Lea, Minnesota, since 1966.

Clarence was active in Commercial Club, Carpenter Fire Department and Police Chief for over 20 years in Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene, of Carpenter; his mother, Lena Schrag, of Freeman, S.D.; three sons: Barry and Scott of Carpenter and Tom of St. Ansgar; four grandchildren; two sisters, Velda Graber of Marion, S.D., and Delsie Schrag of Freeman, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Schrag.
