HAAKENSON, YAGER, MORELAND, LEASE

Funeral services for Mrs. Haakon (Netta) Haakenson, 87, of Osage were at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at Champion Funeral home in Osage. She died on Tuesday, March 20, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Rev. James S. Pittman officiated at the services with burial in the Osage cemetery.

Netta Yager was born on January 25, 1897 in Audubon County, Iowa, the daughter of James and Mary Moreland Yager. She moved to Dickinson county wehre she was raised and attended school. Mrs. Haakenson attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She taught school in West Union and Waukon.

She was united in marriage to Haakon Haakenson on September 23, 1929 at Milford. She moved to Osage in 1936.

She was a member of the Shakespearean Club and the United Methodist Church, where she was past president of the United Methodist Women's group. She served on the Osage Library Board for many years and was memorial chairman for the American Cancer Society in Mitchell County.

Survivors include one son, Dick, of Osage; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Theone) Lease, of Gowrie; and two brothers, James Yager of Morehead, Kentucky, and Milford Yager, of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
