ST. ANSGAR WOMAN
DIED AUGUST 25TH
The following clipping from the St. Ansgar Enterprise tells of the death of Mary Ellen Lund, a St. Ansgar young woman who had a wide circle of friends in Osage:
"A promising life came to an untimely end Tuesday afternoon when Mary Ellen Lund, 24-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Lund, succumbed to septemia which set in following an abdominal operation in a Des Moines hospital Friday morning.
"The death of Miss Lund came as a great shock to her family and this community for it had been thought that she was on the way to recovery following the operation. She had been ill for seven weeks. The body was brought to St. Ansgar from Des Moines on Tuesday evening, and funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Henry Allshouse and Rev. William Galbreth of Mason City in charge.
"Possessed of a beautiful voice, Miss Lund had recently begun a career as a radio singer which gave much promise. She had been a featured singer for a Des Moines Radio station for several months.
"Miss Lund was graduated from St. Ansgar high school in 1929 and attended Grinnell college. Surviving are her parents and three brothers: John of Des Moines, and Justin and Jerry, of St. Ansgar."

Apparently Mary died on September 1, 1936.
She was the daughter of John Peter Lund and
Minnie (Sheehan) Lund.
