MRS. B. ANDERSON
DIED FRIDAY, AFTER
PROLONGED ILLNESSMrs. Bertha Anderson died at the home of her son, A.O. Anderson, on south Fifth Street, Friday morning, after an illness of some duration, due to advanced age.
The departed mother and sister was born at Hadeland, Norway in December 23, 1853. She was baptized and confirmed in the lutheran church of her native place.
In 1873 she came in company with her two older sisters to America. The greater part of her life was spent in the states of Iowa and Wisconsin.
During her stay in Osage she was a member of the Osage Lutheran Church.
In 1877 she entered into matrimony with Lewis Anderson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this wedlock five children were born, the following surviving: Mrs. Tom Carroll, of Los Angeles, Calif. (who arrived in Osage a week before her mother's death); Albert and Ludwig, of Osage.
Six sisters also survive: Mrs. Kari Knudson and Mrs. A.N. Framstad, both of Osage; Mrs. Hannah Lohn, Northfield, Minn.; Mrs. Ollie Steen, of Penturien, Minnesota; Mrs. R.A. Root, Charles City; Mrs. L. Kehrer, Chicago.
Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild also survive.
Mrs. Anderson had been gradually failing in health the last five years of her temporal life.
During the last eight years she made her home with her son, Albert, and at his home she was called to her eternal rest on August 14, 1936. The cause of her death was the usual infirmities of old age. Blessed be Mother's memory.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Osage Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre, with burial in the Osage cemetery.
