PAUL UTESCH -- October 4, 1904 - December 17, 1931
Paul Ernest William Utesch was born October 4, 1904 at Yutan, Nebraska. He was the youngest son of Fred and Christina Utesch.
At the age of five he moved with his parents to Texas where he spent most of his childhood, later moving to Iowa where he lived the greater part of his life, with the exception of a few years spent in Missouri.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and in this he was steadfast to the end.
On September 16, 1920, he was united in marriage to Cera Ann Schwark and they resided on a farm near Elma until his death. This union was blessed with one son, Charles Paul.
Paul was a very kind and loving husband and father.
He was taken suddenly ill on December 9, and was rushed to the New Hampton Hospital where he underwent an operation from which he never recovered. All the loving care and kindness which his family bestowed upon him was of no avail, and with his wife watching at his bedside he fell peacefully asleep in the arms of his Savior on the morning of December 17 at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 13 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and baby son; mother, father, and five sisters and two brothers: Mrs. J. F. Harris, Mrs. Chris Lubbert and Frieda of Riceville; Mrs. B. E. Ball of Bennette, Iowa; and Ruth of St. Louis; Fred of Riceville; and Harry of Kansas City, Kansas, a host of other relatives and friends.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Lutheran church and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
