Laurene Wilcox was the daughter of Mrs. Loma Wilcox of Riceville and Mr. Robert Wilcox of Janesville, Iowa. She was born July 25, 1961 in Riceville, Iowa. She has one sister, Julie, and one brother William, still at home.

Miss Wilcox died in a one-car accident Friday evening, May 28, one half mile west of McIntire on the Stacyville blacktop. The accident occurred when Laurene apparently lost control of the car she was driving. The car rolled completely over in a ditch and rested upright on its wheels. Laurene suffered a broken neck and was dead on arrival at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

Laurene, who had just completed her freshmen year in the Riceville Community High School, is survived by her parents; her sister, Julie; and brother, William; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bakkum, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mrs. Carl Wilcox, LeRoy.

Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery with the Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
