FRED WORPLE
#1:
September 25, 1879 - May 27, 1929
Last week the community was saddened by the sad news that the angel of death had called out of this life a respected citizen and neighbor, Mr. Fred Worple. He had been ailing all winter and spring. At 12 o'clock noon, Monday, May 27, death touched his heart with it's icy hand ending his sufferings.
Mr. Worple was born east of Elma on September 25, 1879, and made his home in Howard and Mitchell Counties all his life. Born of Lutheran parents he was brought to his Saviour thru baptism in early infancy, renewed his baptismal vow at the Lutheran Church at Elma on his confirmation day, and remained faithful to his God and church unto the end. Of such the savior says, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth".
On February 4, 1913 he was united in holy wedlock to Gusta Myers. To this union was born one son, Edward. On Decoration Day we bedded his tired body in God's Acre at the Lutheran church south of Riceville, of which congregation he had been a faithful member, his pastor, Rev. W. E. Leckband conducting the services.
The days of his earthly pilgrimage were 49 years, 8 months, and 2 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, one son, Edward, two brothers, Wm. Worple of Elma, Charles Worple of Riceville, and five sisters, Mrs. George Myers of Riceville, Mrs. L. Kapka of Alta Vista, Mrs. Ed Kapka and Mrs. George Schreibner of Garver, Oklahoma and Mrs. Herman Kapka of Haward, Oklahoma.
