Martha (Hemann) Smith – October 15, 1905 – March 18, 2007

AUSTIN -- The funeral Mass for Martha Smith will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, with the Rev. Dale Tupper officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin.

Mrs. Smith, 101, of Austin, died Sunday (March 18, 2007) at Sacred Heart Care Center, where she was a resident.

She was born Oct. 15, 1905, in Meyer, Iowa. On June 2, 1925, she married Frederick Smith in Meyer. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1998. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Wickoren of Austin; a son, David (Eunice) of Burnsville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 6:30 p.m., both on Wednesday at the funeral home

Martha Hemann was the daughter of John Edward Hemann and Theresa (Steiger) Hemann.

She married Frederick John Smith, the son of Nicholas and Theresa (Schumacher) Smith.
