Mrs. Susan Ackerman, 75
Passes Away May 1

Mrs. Susan Stark Ackerman, 75, a long time resident of Jamestown Township has away May 1, 1957, at the Berlwistle Rest Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Mrs. Ackerman was the daughter of Martin and Elmire Stark and was born in Waterloo on September 27, 1882. She grew to young womanhood in Waterloo where she met Edward John Ackerman, to whom she was united in marriage on November 4, 1901.

Establishing their home in Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman lived there until 1911 when the family moved to Wadina, Minnesota. In the autumn of 1918 they came to the farm in Jamestown Township which was to be their home until retirement from the farm into Riceville in 1953.

Five children were blessed to this union. Richard preceded his mother in death. Ms. Leonard Banks of Lime Springs, Mrs. Glen Dann of Minneapolis, Glen of LeRoy and Martin of McIntire. All remain with their father to mourn the passing of their mother.

In addition to her husband and family, Mrs. Ackerman leaves a sister, Mrs. John Sweeney of Waterloo, a brother John Stark, also of Waterloo and a brother, Ollie Stark of Defiance, Ohio. There are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted on Friday, May 3 at the Congregational Church by Rev. Bohi. Mrs. Roy Stark and Mrs. Fern Roehr of LeRoy say "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden." Mrs. Oliver Farus officiated at the piano. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery of Riceville.
