DR. S.E. ELLIS DIED
AT IOWA CITY TUESDAY
AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Dr. S. E. Ellis, a former pastor of the Osage Methodist Church, died at Iowa City Tuesday afternoon, according to word received here. Dr. Ellis had been in poor health for a number of years; in fact he resigned his pastorate here to be closer to expert medical assistance at Iowa City, both for himself and his wife.
The Des Moines Register this morning says: "Funeral services for Dr. Sylvester E. Ellis, 66, resident minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Iowa City, who died Tuesday afternoon, will be held Thursday afternoon.
"Dr. Ellis retired from the ministry in 1934, but served in the local pulpit last year until summer, following the resignation of the Rev. Harry D. Henry.
"The body will be taken to Delaware, Ohio, for burial.
"Surviving is Mrs. Ellis and their children -- Nell, of Iowa City; Mrs. Mary Conn, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Dorothy Scheldrup, of Iowa City; Howard, of Ann Arbor, Michigan."
