Hilmar Delvin Amundson was born July 4, 1914 at Mitchell County, Iowa to Adolph Amundson and Gustava Elise Erickson. Hilmar was the second of five children, his siblings were: Alvin Julius, Marian Louise, Alice Norlaine and Vernon Galen.
Hilmar was baptized on August 9, 1914 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Paulson, Lise Rossum and Christian Erickson. Hilmar was confirmed at the same church on May 20, 1928.
Hilmar found in the 1920 census living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Adolph Amunson 37, Gusta Amunson 28, Alvin Amunson 7, Hilmen Amunson 5, Marian Amunson 2[2 6/12], Alice Amunson 5 months.
Found in the 1925 census living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Helmen Amundson 10, Alvin Amundson 14, H. E. Erckson 64.
Found in the 1930 census for Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa working as a laborer, single. For a while, he worked as a hired man for Julius Olson.
Hilmar Amundson married Pauline Applehons after 1930. They had 2 daughters: Arla K. Amundson (born October 9, 1936, married a Wherry, died March 18, 2001) and Patricia. The couple lived in Mitchell County, Iowa for a time but later moved.
Hilmar Delvin Amundson died June 13, 1998 at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa. He was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
