Michael LaCoste – August 8, 1855 – December 28, 1944

RETIRED MEAT DEALER DIES; RITES SATURDAY

Rudd, Iowa – Michael LaCoste, 89, who formerly operated a meat market in Rudd, died Thursday at the home of his son, Louis H. LaCoste in Rudd after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eden Presbyterian Church north of Rudd, Doctor H. a. Sinning officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Michael LaCoste was born August 8, 1855 in Germany, the son of Conrad and Anna LaCoste. He married Christina Brandau, the daughter of Frederick and Anna Catharina (Hott) Brandau.

According to a birthday article in 1936 (Globe Gazette), he was born August 8, 1855 in Germany. He and his wife and son, George came to America July 29, 1882. The first year he worked out for $15 a month. He bought the place where he now resides in 1914. He had 9 children 27 grandchildren and five great grandchildren in the 1936 article.

His wife died in 1928.
