GEORGE JEFFRIES DIED
TUESDAY NIGHT, AFTER
A YEAR'S ILLNESS
George Jeffries, for many years a prominent farmer of this county, passed away at his home on West Main Street Tuesday evening, August 12 following an illness that has extended over several years, from an incurable disease, chronic nephritis. He has been up and about all summer, made occasional visits to his farm, and was about the home until a couple of weeks prior to his death. His children were summoned last week, and death had been expected hourly since Sunday.
Funeral services are to be held from the home Thursday afternoon in charge of the Rev. F. Osten-Sacken and Rev. Jennie Hitchcock, and the Odd Fellows will have charge of the service at the grave.
An account of Mr. Jeffries' life will be published in next week's Press.

DIES AT HOME IN OSAGE
OSAGE, IOWA, Aug. 14. — George J. Jeffries died at his home here Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock, after a Lingering illness from, cancer. He was 62 years of age and had spent practically all of his life in this vicinity, as his father, Jesse Jeffries, came from England in an early day and settled in Mitchell County.
Services were conducted by his pastor, Dr. Osten-Sacken, of the Universalist Church, this afternoon at the home. The I. O. O. F. Lodge had charge of the commitment services at the cemetery.
He is survived by his widow and several grown children.
