Funeral services for Edwin Pike, 88, who died Thursday, August 31, 1967, at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, were held Saturday, September 2 at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were grandson; Rodger Nelson, Burnell Hendrikson, Jerald Pike, Keith Braun, David Pike, and Wayne Pike.
Edwin Roy Pike was born October 19, 1878 in Worth County, Iowa. He was the son of Edwin and Diana (Sumption) Pike. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in 1914. He was married March 18, 1903 to Mary Johnson. Twelve children were born to this union, eight of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Chester (Laura) Hendrikson of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Edward (Evelyn) Nelson of Albert Lea, Minn.; Anton and Lawrence of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Harold (Edna) Knutson of Riverside, Calif.; Warren of Clear Lake; Mrs. Dean (Delores) Thompson of Toeterville, and Mrs. Everett (Crystal) Braun of Grafton. Preceding him in death were his wife and four children, Earl, Pearl, Erwin and Diane.
Besides the immediate family, Mr. Pike is survived by 31 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He also has one surviving brother, Walter Pike, of Lyle, Minn.
Mr. Pike was a patient at Mitchell County Memorial hospital the past three weeks and died at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
