Frank Wherry, son of Ebenezar and Estelle (Norton) Wherry, was born in Jones County, Iowa, February 2, 1869. When he was a small boy, the family moved to Wyoming, Iowa where he grew to manhood. He was graduated from Wyoming High School and attended Cornell College for one year.
On January 14, 1891 he was united in marriage with Miss Maud Florence Sutton at Anamosa, Iowa. For a long time they lived in Jones County. In 1897, the family moved to a farm in Marshall County. They also lived in Rhodes and Melbourne, Iowa. They later resided on farms in Cerro Gordo, Mitchell, and Worth (Kensett, Iowa) Counties.
They moved to a farm near McIntire, Iowa, in 1926, where they spent their remaining years. They were married for sixty-one years. Frank died at their home on May 2, 1952 at the age of 83 years and 3 months.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church in McIntire, Iowa. He was laid to rest in the Wayne Cemetery near McIntire. Casket Bearers were: Perry Carter, Mayo Newhouse, Grant Grace, Kersey Bryd, Morse Decker and Arthur Keston.
He was survived by his wife, three daughters and four sons. One son, Ebben, preceded him in death.
Mr. Wherry was the last of his immediate family, his parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death. He was a loving husband and a kind indulgent father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
