Funeral services for Gilbert Gigstead, 66, of Reynolds, Indiana and formerly of the Osage, Iowa, area, were held on Thursday, July 17, 1986 at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. James S. Pittman, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. Mr. Gigstead died on Monday, July 14, 1986, at a Lafayette, Indiana hospital.
He was born on January 9, 1920 at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to Oscar and Mable (Nelson) Gigstead. He attended Sturgeon Bay schools and Washington Island, Wisconsin, schools.
On January 20, 1944 he was married to Antonia Pajer at Chicago, Illinois. The couple moved to Mitchell County, Iowa, in 1949, and later moved to Castalia where they operated a grocery store. They also lived in Postville and Dickeyville, Wisconsin, where they were in the antique business. They then moved to Reynold, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Antonia; and one son, Robert, both of Reynolds, Indiana; one sister and four brothers.
