Funeral services for Gustie Amundson, 95, of Osage, were held on Tuesday, January 27, 1987 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Rev. R. Hoppenworth officiated and burial was in Rock Creek Church Cemetery. She died on Saturday, Janaury 24, 1987, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Amundson was born on September 22, 1891 in Hancock County, Iowa, the daughter of Hans C. and Julia (Johnson) Erikson. She moved to Mitchell County as a child and was educated in rural school.

On December 7, 1909, she married Adolph Amundson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Adolph in 1956; an infant son; a daughter, Marian in 1965; and three sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Alice) Nack of Osage; three sons: Alvin of Osage, and Hilmer and Vernon both of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Gustava Elise (Eliza) Erickson was born September 22, 1891 at Twin Lake, Hancock, Iowa, to Hans E. Erickson and Julia Johnson Gulbrandsdatter, the third of their three daughters.

Found in the 1895 & 1900 censuses living at Twin Lake, Hancock, Iowa:
1895: Gusta Erickson, age 3.
1900: Andrew Jonson, 37, Gusta Jonson, 27, May Peterson, 4, Gerhard Johnson, 4, Nellie Erikson, 12, Gusta Erikson, 9, John Johnson, 39.

The family moved to Mitchell County, Iowa. Gustie was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on June 10, 1906.

Gustie married Adolph Amundson on December 7, 1910 (also found 1909) at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had 6 children:
Baby boy unnamed (1911-1911);
Alvin Julius (1912-2001),
Hilmar Delvin (1914-1998),
Marian Louise (1917-1965),
Alice Norlaine (1919-2008) and,
Vernon Galen (1926-2012).

Found in the 1910, 1920 censuses living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa:
1910: Gustie Errickson age 18, working as a servant for a family.
1920: Adolph Amunson 37, Gusta Amunson 28, Alvin Amunson 7, Hilmen Amunson 5, Marian Amunson 2[2 6/12], Alice Amunson 5 months.

Found in the 1925 census at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Adolphe Amundson, 42, Isom Agutta Amundson, 32, Alyce Amundson, 5, Helmen Amundson, 10, Alvin Amundson, 14, Hans E. Erckson, 64. Says widowed, father in law, living with Adolph Ammundson family.

Found in the 1930 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Adolph Amundson, 47, Gustie E. Amundson, 38, Marian L. Amundson, 12, Alice N. Amundson, 10, Vernon G. Amundson, 3 5/12.

Note: March 1932, moved to Osage, Iowa.

Found in the 1940 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Adolph Ammundson 57, Gusta E. Ammundson 48, Vernon G. Ammundson 12, Benjamin Johnson 65.

Died January 24, 1987 Osage, Mitchell, IA. Buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

I think she was married December 7, 910. That's what her spouse's obit said. Have found both dates, but think the 1909 is wrong.
