Funeral services for Archie E. Pike, 77, of Otranto who died February 4, 1983 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, were held February 7 at the Otranto Community Church, Otranto, Iowa, with the Rev. Howard Grossoehme officiating.
Archie Edwin Pike was born March 6, 1906, in Worth county, the son of Walter and Isabelle (Kvale) Pike. He attended Carpenter and Otranto schools, He married Gwendolyn Irene Wilder November 7, 1925 in Austin, Minn. To this union eight daughters were born.
Archie lived and farmed all of his years in the Otranto area. Also, he drove school bus and did carpenter work. He loved fishing, trapping and all kinds of nature and wildlife. Probably the thing he loved most were visiting and laughing with family and friends.
Archie was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Darlene Pike; two grandsons, Norman McCormick Jr. and Steven Lindley; his parents and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn of rural St. Ansgar; seven daughters, Mrs. Leon (Georgia) Lindley of Osage; Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Rosenberg, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Edward (Mary Ann) Kittleson of Greene; Mrs. Carroll (Audrey) Goodew of Rose Creek, Minn.; Mrs. Jerry (Frances) Thorson of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Roger (Sandra) Keith of Algona; Mrs. Gwendolyn E. Meling of New Hartford; also 40 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren; three brothers; five sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Grossoehme in charge of committal services.
