Norman James Leidall – April 2, 1926 – August 23, 2009

Norman James Leidall, age 83 of Lyle, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2009, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

He was born April 2, 1926, to Walter and Myrtle (Naversath) Leidall in Mitchell County, Iowa. He lived on the farm all his life and was a janitor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle. Norman enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews. Jodi has been a special niece and caregiver to Norman.

Survivors include a brother, LaVerne (June) Leidall of Lyle; sister, Avis (Jim) Johnson of Austin; nieces, Jan (John) Coumbe, Diane Horgen, Jodi (Robert) Kaput and Cindy Jensen; nephews, Todd (Melody) Johnson, Greg Johnson and Scott (Julie) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Bruce Leidall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Reverend Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Judy Stark will be the organist and Scott Johnson the soloist. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal. Interment is at Six Mile Grove Cemetery, rural Lyle.

Honorary casket bearers are Lorimer Nelson, John Coumbe, Shirll Nelson, Jim Horgen, Sylvan Stromley and Bob Kaput. Casket bearers are Greg Johnson, Jake Kaput, Scott Johnson, Darin Horgen, Todd Leidall, Ryan Horgen, Daniel Leidall and Matt Coumbe.

The family prefers memorials to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle.

Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.
