THORSEN, KITTLESON, HELFRITZ

Mrs. Birgit Thorsen was born at Hallingdal, Norway, on June 15th, 1831. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at her home. She came to Mitchell county direct from Norway in the fifties.

She was married to Halvor Thorsen on July 20, 1858. This union was blessed with five children. One of the children died in infancy, Thor Thorsen died about twenty years ago and a daughter, Mrs. Otto Helfritz died nineteen years ago. Ole H. Thorsen and Mrs. Lars Kittleson survive their mother.

After the death of her husband, three years ago, she has been making her home, for a part of the time, with her daughter, Mrs. Lars Kittleson. Returning to the home after a short trip to town when she was stricken with apoplexy. She seemed to rally for a couple of days but had a relapse and died Sunday evening, April 6th.

She was buried April 10th. Her remains were laid to rest at the U.N.L. Cemetery north of St. Ansgar.

The following relatives from afar were present at the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Ole Braaten, Hayfield, Minn.; Mrs. Jergensen, New Richland, Minn.; Mrs. O. Running, Ole, Theodore and Bert Running and Bennie Helfritz, all of Lyle.

We hereby desire to express hearty thanks to all who helped to care for and comfort our mother during her sickness and to all who showed us their sympathy after her death, especially to those who brought the many beautiful flowers to her funeral.
