Eva Ann Hendry – March 6, 1872 – December 18, 1948
Osage – Eva Hendry, 76, died Saturday night at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Mason City, following a long illness from a heart ailment.
Funeral Rites are tentatively for Tuesday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial will be in Osage Cemetery.
She was born in Dane County, near Stoughton, Wisconsin, March 6, 1872 to James and Mary (Carter) Hendry Sr. At the age of five, she accompanied her parents to Floyd County, where her mother died.
The family then left for Huron, South Dakota, where a homestead was taken. The family returned to Floyd County in 1894, moving to near Osage, in 1908, and to Osage in 1912, where they had since resided, except for six years spent in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota.
She joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Cavour, near Huron, in 1887, transferring her membership to the local Methodist church.
She leaves one sister Alice, Osage; three nieces whom she helped to rear; Mrs. Roy Wieland, Milwaukee Wisconsin; Mrs. Roy Simon, Elma; and Margaret, Osage.
Preceeding her in death were her brother, James Jr., and a sister; Hattie Hendry Paschal.
