Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 1986 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa for the Rev. Paul Metzger, 68, retired pastor of Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Perry Brown, interim pastor officiated and burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Metzger died Firday, April 25, 1986 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 11, 1918 to Clarence and Caroline (Mosler) Metzger in Wapakoneta, Ohio, where he graduated from high school.
He attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio for one year, then served five years in the Army during World War II.
He and Marie Behle were united in marriage on June 12, 1946 at Albert Lea, Minnesota.
He graduated from Wartburg College and Wartburg Seminary in Waverly, Iowa. He served churches in New London, Wisconsin, Shawano, Wisconsin, St. Paul, Minnesota, Hector, Minnesota, Greene, and Rock Creek in rural Osage. He retired September 1, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Osage; two daughters, Nancy Metzger of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Mrs. Jim (Beth) Olsen of Osage; three sons: Tim of San Jose, Calif., Dan of Wichita, Kansas, and Paul of St. Paul, Minnesota; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John (Loretta) Morris, Piqua, Ohio; and a brother, Kenneth of St. Mary's, Ohio.
