MRS. JANEAN CUNDERLA’S MOTHER, 86, DIES IN AUSTIN
Austin – M. Esther Decker, 86, of Austin and formerly of Osage, Iowa, and mother of Mrs. Donald (Janean) Cunderla of Rochester, died Saturday at an Austin nursing home.
The former M. Esther Corrigan was born May 4, 1900, at Gilman, Iowa. She moved to Lyle with her family as a child and attended schools there.
On July 16, 1919, she married Morse Decker in Union Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. They farmed in Union Township, and then moved to the McIntire, Iowa area to farm. In 1962, they retired and moved into Osage. The couple moved to Austin in 1975. Mr. Decker died in 1980.
In addition to her daughter in Rochester, she is survived by three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Amy Cashman, of San Diego.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, with the Rev. Mark Garrison of First United Methodist Church of Austin officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Osage.
