Funeral services for Palmer C. Olson, 76, who died February 16, 1976, were held February 18 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. S. Engelstad officiating.

Palmer Clarence Olson was born January 29, 1900 in St. Ansgar, the youngest of three sons of Ole C. and Kari Golberg Olson. He was baptized March 4, 1900 at First Lutheran church here by the Rev. Johan Olsen and confirmed in the same church by the Rev. M.E. Waldeland on May 30, 1915. He attended St. Ansgar public schools.

On July 6, 1930 he married Viola Berg of Walcott, N.D. They made their home in St. Ansgar where Mr. Olson entered the wholesale vegetable business. It was during these years that he became better known as "Polly" Olson in the community. After many successful years in business, Mr. Olson retired in 1964 due to ill health.

Through his long time interest in and study of numismatics, he was awarded a silver membership medal and lifetime membership in the American Numismatic association in 1969. This avocation continued through his years of illness. It was a natural outgrowth of his love of history and the arts. It was his special gift to be able to see beauty and value where many others had not yet discovered it.

Mr. Olson was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Irvin. His is survived by his wife, Viola of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Kathryn) McHenry of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Mrs. Galen (Audrey) Schulz of St. Ansgar; eight grandchildren, Scott, Rebekah, Spencer, Bennett and Holly Morrison of Winston-Salem, and Stephanie, Mark and Tim Schulz of St. Ansgar; one brother, Oliver C. Olson of St. Ansgar.

Burial was in St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of committal services.
