Arthur Minnis observed his 100th birthday on December 16, 1983, as a resident of the Riceville Community Rest Home, with a party.
Arthur was born in Jenkins township, Mitchell county, Iowa, on December 16, 1883, where he lived his entire life on the same farm. He attended a country school where his father taught him the 3 R's. His mother and father were William and Martha Ellen Minnis.
Arthur died in November 1984, at the age of 100 years and 11 months.

#2:Memorial services were held Tuesday at Champion Funeral Home for Arthur Minnis, 100, of Riceville, Iowa, who died Saturday, November 17, 1984 at the Community Rest Home in Riceville.
Rev. J. Gilbert officiated at the service. Mr. Minnis was cremated, Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born on December 16, 1883 in Mitchell County, Iowa, to William and Martha (Savil) Minnis, and farmed his entire life in the Riceville area.
He married Ethel Mae Barker on February 26, 1913, at Cedar Valley Seminary Chapel, Osage.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; parents, one grandson, Bruce; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Osage and Roy of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Isabel Coleman, Riceville, and Mrs. Marley (Anna) McClanahan, Dayton, Ohio, along with six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
