Henry Kruger 1864-1921

August 13, 1864 -- November 1, 1921

The funeral of Mr. Henry Kruger, a native and long time resident of this community, was held last Friday at the Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. Matthias, and his body was laid to rest in the cemetery there, beside his wife and infant daughter.

Henry Kruger was a son of those sturdy pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kruger, and was born on August 13, 1864, on the old home farm south of Riceville. He lived in the same neighborhood until about nine years ago when he moved to Swanville, Minnesota, where he still followed farming.

Four years ago his health began to fail and he came to Charles City to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Otto Glienke, where he remained until on November 1, 1921, he finally succumbed to cancer, the disease from which he had suffered for several years.

The wife and mother passed away in 1905, and one daughter in infancy.

Four daughters survive: Mrs. Otto Glienke of Charles City; Mrs. Charles Compton of Little Falls, Minnesota; Mrs. Lee Powers and Mrs. Ernest Haller both of Charles City. Mr. Kruger also leaves four brothers and three sisters.

With these bereaved relatives are many friends who mourn the passing of a kind neighbor and a faithful friend. Sincere sympathy is tendered to the sorrowing ones.

NOTE: Henry is buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, south of Riceville, Iowa.
