Mr. Larry Gene Hockens of McIntire, Iowa, passed away on January 14, 1979 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, Iowa, of heart trouble. He was born on November 25, 1929 at McIntire, the son of Perry and Geneva Tibbitts Hockens and was a resident of McIntire his entire life. He worked for the railroad until his retirement and was in the Army Reserves from 1949 to 1955. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and an American Legion member.
He was united in marriage to June Benning in January of 1971.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Irma Jean [nee Kruger], in 1970; his parents, father in 1930 and his mother in 1977; and a brother, Perry L. Hockens.
Surviving him are his wife, June; two daughters, LaVera, Stewartville, Minnesota, and Lorraine, Echo, Oregon; a sister, Ida B. Wright, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a brother, Howard Hockens, McIntire.
Services were held on Saturday, January 20, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Riceville with Pastor Bertrand Hinrichs officiating. Interment was held at the Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville, with the Lindstrom Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
