ROBY, Vernon 1908-1987
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 1987, at champion Funeral Home, Osage, for Vernon Roby, 78, formerly of rural McIntire, Iowa. Rev. J. Gilbert will officiate, and burial will be in the Peoples Township Cemetery, rural Woodward. Mr. Roby died on Monday, January 19, 1987 at the Stacyville nursing home.
He was born on May 20, 1908 in Linn Grove, the son of Henry and Inga (Rugne) Roby. On February 10, 1932 he married Carrie Bice in Perry. They farmed near Woodward until 1957 when they moved to rural McIntire. They farmed there until retiring in 1970.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie, in 1984; an infant daughter; and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Volrath of Rock Island, Illinois; two sons, Carroll of Davenport and Martin of Carver, Minnesota; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Art (Virginia) Kraemer of Storm Lake; and three brothers: Milo of Madrid, Morgan of Boone, and Floyd of Mesa, Arizona.
