Funeral services were held on Monday, January 19, 1987, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa, for Nellie Young, 89, of Osage. Rev. K. Hejnal of United Church of Christ officiated and following the services the body was cremated.

She died on Friday, January 16, 1987, at the Mitchell County Hospital.

Mrs. Young was born on March 24, 1897 in Burt, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ellie (Easton) Peters. She graduated from Burt High School and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Palmer, Orchard and Little Cedar.

In 1921 she married Hugh Young. The couple made their home in Mondamin. They moved to Osage in 1939, where they were partners in the Kingsbury and Young Hardware store of Osage. She was also a well-known piano teacher in Osage.

Mrs. Young was a member of Easter Star and United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Cuff and a son, Hugh Young, both of Pittsburgh; two sisters, merceded De La Hunt of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Mrs. George (Ida) Gebhardt of Oak Park, Illinois, and five grandchildren.
