Funeral services were held on Friday, January 9, 1987, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage for Earl Churness, 76, formerly of Osage, who died on Tuesday, January 6, 1987 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. The Rev. Obert Rust of Albert Lea, Minnesota, officiated, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery where military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 278, of Osage.
Mr. Churness was born August 5, 1910 at Osage, to Elmer and Mary (Thompson) Churness. He attended Osage schools and served in the Army Air Force during World War II from 1943-1945. After the war, he was employed as a clerk at Pohle Drug Store, Osage. For the past 30 years. Mr. Churness had lived at the Iowa Soldiers Home in Marshalltown.
He is survived by cousins.
Mr. Churness was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers, and his parents.
