WALSH SERVICES SATURDAY

Former Osage city councilman Ivan Walsh, 54, died Thursday, August 12, 1982 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, at Sacred Heart Church. The Reverend Jacob Roth officiated and burial was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage, where military rites were performed by the American Legion Post 278.

Ivan Walsh was born and raised in the Osage area, the son of James and Ida Segessenmann Walsh. He graduated from Osage High School and Loras College in Dubuque.

He and Vera Halfman were married May 25, 1955, at Visitation Church in Stacyville.

Walsh was stationed in Japan with the armed forced during the Korean conflict, and worked for Olson Motors in Osage for many years.

Walsh was elected to the Osage City Council as Fourth Ward Councilman in 1973 and too office in January, 1974. He held that post until he resigned in May 1982. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus and held the office of Grand Knight of the Osage Council in 1964-65.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Cindy) Shallock, Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Peggy Walsh, St. Paul, Minnesota; three sons, Chuck, Dave and Don, all of Osage; one grandchild, and two brothers, Glen, Osage, and Leonard, St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
