Funeral services were held on Friday, February 20, 1987 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, for Elizabeth "Liz" Ostrander, 65, of Clear Lake. Rev. Ed. Shields officiated and burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. She died on Wednesday, February 18, 1987 at her home.
She was born on August 2, 1921 at Stacyville, to Joseph and Mary (Theobald) Mayer. She attended rural schools in Stacyville. She went to Clear Lake and worked at the Corner Drug Store, Clear Lake, for over 20 years, retiring in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her father, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Harris "Red" Ostrander of Clear Lake; her mother, Mrs. Mary Mayer of Stacyville Nursing Home; two sons, Jim of Waterloo and Tim of Clear Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Bob (Sharon) Sallee of Indianola, Mrs. Jon (Mary) Harvey of Clear Lake, and Mrs. Doug (Cindy) Christensen of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Paul and Gene Mayer both of Osage; three sisters: Mrs. Paul (Marge) Weis of Stacyville, Mrs. Bill (Yvonne) Yezek of Peoria, Illinois, and Mrs. Jerry (Betty Lou) Farrell of Elmhurst, Illinois, and 11 grandchildren.
