PRIME, C. S.

This community was surpised and shocked when on Wednesday morning the report was circulated that C. S. Prime, of the Mitchell Exchange Bank, had died suddenly at his home that morning.

Mr. Prime has been one of the prominent men of Mitchell, he came here in 1853 and with the exception of three years spent in the lumber trade in Chicago, he has since been a resident of this county. He followed farming for several years, but in the fall of 1862 was elected clerk of the courts of Mitchell County to which office he was three times re-elected. About a year after the expiration of his term of service he engaged in the banking business with Charles Sweatt in which business he continued up to the time of his death.

He was born in Vermont, December 24, 1834, and while quite young moved with his parents to Medina, N.Y., and March 4th, 1862, was married to Mary J. Clark, who with the son, Archie C., the only child born to their union, suvives him. He was a man of sterling integrity and a consistent member of the Congregational church. He will be greatly missed.
