LAVERNE C. HERMAN
Funeral services for LaVerne C. Herman, 71, who died Saturday, July 23, 1994, were held Monday July 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Reverend Norman Betke officiating.
LaVerne C. Herman was born January 27, 1923 in Franklin Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Jacob Herman and Melinda (Schlomann) Herman.
He attended rural schools in Bremer County and graduated from Dunkerton High School.
He married Mildred Loeffler March 18, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger. He farmed the family farm until 1972. He was District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans from 1972-1987. In 1978 he moved to Osage where he served on the city council for six years and was active in church and community.
Mr. Herman is survived by his wife, Mildred, St. Ansgar, two daughters, Kathy Reiher of Readlyn and Margaret Kistler of Olin; three sons: LaVerne Herman Jr. of Crosby, Texas, James Herman of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Karl Herman of Osage; one sister, Darlene Hoppenworth, Waterloo; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Klinger.
