Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28, 1993 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle, Minnesota, for Clifford S. Nelson, 85, of St. Ansgar. Reverend Harold Luecke officiated and burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. He died Monday, October 25, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Clifford Nelson was born December 8, 1907 at Rose Creek, Mower county, Minnesota, to Ole D. and Sarah Borgen Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Six Mile Grove Church. He attended the rural Nelson School. He married Avanelle Thompson on October 18, 1940 at the Lyle Parsonage, Lyle, Minnesota. He farmed with his father-in-law, Oscar Thompson until his death in 1945. Then Clifford took over the farming and was a DeKalb seed corn dealer for several years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister; and one half-brother.

Survivors include his wife, Avanelle Nelson of St. Ansgar; one daughter, Merna Richardson of Livermore, CA; one sister, Thelma Will of Albert Lea, MN; and one brother, Otto Nelson of Lyle, MN.
