AVANELLE NELSON

ST. ANSGAR - Avanelle Nelson, 88, of St. Ansgar, died Sunday (Dec. 5, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar.

Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. on Friday at the Church.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Avanelle Mercedes Nelson, 88, of St. Ansgar, who died on December 5, 1999, at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held Friday, December 10 at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.

Avanelle was born on August 20, 1911 in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, to Oscar and Hannah (Hanson) Thompson. She graduated from the Otranto high schoool in 1926. She married Clifford Nelson on October 18, 1940 at the Lyle parsonage by Rev. O.M. Langehough. They farmed on a family farm east of Otranto. Avanelle moved to St. Ansgar in 1991, moving to the Good Samaritan Center in 1995. She enjoyed music, played the organ and was a Sunday School teacher at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Lyle, Minnesota.

Avanelle is survived by her daughter, Merna Richardson and her husband Paul of Tucson, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clifford in 1993.

Burial was at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar with Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
