Funeral services for Carl Bernard Peterson, 66, were held on Tuesday, January 28, 1992 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa, with Rev. Robert Pfeil officiating. Mr. Peterson passed away on Friday, January 24, 1992, in the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Carl Peterson was born on December 22, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Geneva Howe Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Following graduation from high school, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1941. He was in action when his plane was shot down over the Adriatic Sea, with Carl suffering severe wound from which he never fully recovered.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Diabled American Veterans. He worked as a machinist and was a retired U.S. Army Air Force Sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; two stepsons, Russell and Verlyn Oettchen; a stepdaughter, Elaine Oettchen; two grandsons; five sisters, Mrs. George (Geneva) Eddleman, St. Vincent, Minnesota; Carol Sheldon, Dover, Delaware; Mrs. Charles (Janet) Walter, Johnson City, Tennessee, and Maren Frank, Also of Johnson City; and Mrs. Garent Waldrolp, St. Vincent, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville, with the Conway Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.
