Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 27, 1985, for Gregor Spoden, 81, of Mitchell, a retired farmer and carpenter, at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church. The rev. J. Heineman officiated, and burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery. He died Tuesday, July 23, 1985 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 28, 1903, the son of Nickolas and Mary (Mishak) Spoden, in Alta Vista, Iowa. He attended schools in North Washington. He and Josephine Buchholz were married on October 11, 1927 in Janesville, Wisc. The couple lived in the Riceville and New Haven area and in Mitchell for the past 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; two infant twin daughters; one sister, Margaret; five brothers, Pete, Frank, John, Henry and Nick.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Mullenbach of Osage; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Foxen of Osage; and one brother, Edward Spoden of Janesville, Wisconsin.
