Funeral services for Robert E. Mork, 70, of New Haven, Iowa, who died Tuesday, March 19 were held at Champions Funeral Home in Osage Saturday, March 23 with Father Gregory officiating. Burial was in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Robert E. Mork was born April 18, 1914 at Osage the son of Ernie and Stella Gilbert Mork. He grew to adulthood in Osage and graduated from Osage High School in 1932. He was married January 15, 1934 to Vivian Brunner in New Haven. In 1938 they moved to their present home just west of New Haven.
He worked for Thurow’s garage until 1952. He was also a member of Civil Air Patrol for a number of years and went to Africa as a mechanic on the air bases being built by our government. He spent four years in Africa, 18 months in Pakistan and 12 months in Vietnam. He returned to New Haven in 1962 and the following year started his own garage near New Haven which he ran until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by his wife Vivian; two sons Gary of Osage and Robert of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters Nadine of New Haven and Mrs. Phil (Susan) Schwab of Osage; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Cleone Rosenburger of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernie, his mother Stella, one brother Tom and a sister Eileen.
