Edward William Arp was born March 7, 1898 at Homer township, Benton County, Iowa to Julius Edward Arp and Margaretha Elizabeth Jansen. His family lived on a farm in Benton county and can be found in the 1900 and 1910 censuses there. His family then moved to Burr Oak Township, Mitchell, County, Iowa to farm and can be found in the 1920 to 1930 censuses living at Burr Oak.
Ed's siblings were: Henry Peter (born October 31, 1896 Benton Co, Iowa, died December 27, 1951 Osage, Iowa), Elsie Sophia (born December 2, 1899 Traer, Iowa, married Louis Herman Koster February 18, 1920 Osage, Iowa, died March 26, 1981 St. Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa), John B. (born 1902 Benton Co, Iowa, died November 26, 1938 Osage, Iowa) and George A. Arp (born February 19, 1904 Dysart, Iowa, died December 10, 1974 Osage, Iowa).
Ed married Hazel Lillian Frank December 12, 1936 at Mitchell County, Iowa. Their children were: Patricia Kay (married Dean Rowson) and Marvin Edward (married Jeanne Navratril). Hazel had been married before to Lawrence Squier. Ed helped her raise her children from that marriage.
Ed died March 23, 1989 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.
