THE PASSING OF ANOTHER PIONEER

Mrs. Mehus was taken sick Sunday, December 23, but was up and around at times on Christmas day. In the evening, of December 25th, she took a sudden turn for the worse and in spite of the best of care and medical aid she passed peacefully away at 4 a.m. December 26, 1928.

Ragnild Trom, daughter of Andrew and Berget Trom, was born October 18, 1854, at Gol, Hallingdal, Norway, and was baptized the same year. In 1857 together with her parents and two sisters she came to America and settled first at Adams, Minn., where they lived three years. In 1860 they moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, settling on a farm five miles north of St. Ansgar, which has been her home ever since. She was confirmed by the Rev. Clausen April 19, 1868.

On April 19, 1881, she was united in marriage to Hans Mehus. This union was blessed with three daughters, all living: Minnie and Annie Mehus, at home, and Mrs. Clifford Thorson of St. Ansgar. Mr. Mehus preceded her in death April 17, 1924.

She attained the age of 74 years, 2 months and 8 days. She is survived by her three daughters, two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Helen Reyerson, of Northwood, besides many other relatives. Five sisters and one brother have preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, December 29, at 2 o'clock. She was laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiating.
