Marthe Hansen (Samuelson) LARSON 1850-1936
"Marthe Larson, wife of John O. Larson, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Nelson, Sunday evening November 29, 1936 at 7:50. She was born in Grue Prestejeld, Solar, Norway on November 6, 1850, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the same place.
Mrs. Larson attained the age of 86 years, 23 days: She was the last member of a family of 7 children; born to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Samuelson: She immigrated to the United States in July, 1873 and made her home with her parents; Mr. and Mrs. Hans Samuelson, who had preceded her to the United States.
She was united in marriage Dec. 2, 1880 to John O. Larson at St. Ansgar, Iowa, by the late Rev. Johan Olson.
To Mrs. and Mrs. Larson were born 8 children, three of whom have preceded her in death: Ole, Emma and Hattie. Those remaining to mourn her departure besides the husband are: Mrs. Peter Nelson, Alfred Larson Lewis Larson, all of this community and George Larson of Osage, Iowa; and Mrs. Newton Bigelow of Albert Lea, Minn.
The funeral was held at the Mona Lutheran church, Wednesday afternoon, which was the 56th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Larson.
Following are the last words she spoke:
Lad mig ei gaa til sovested
For jeg er vis min Gud gaar
Med, saa slaar jeg verden
Af min sind og lukker
Kun min Jesum ind
