Botilla Winter 1899-1985
Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob (Botilla) Winter, 85, who died Wednesday, February 6, 1985, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital were held Friday, February 8 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage.
The Rev. Joseph Nesheim officiated at the service and burial was in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Winter was born on May 24, 1899 in Suderlugum, Germany, to Hans and Caroline (Lorenzen) Matzen.
She was raised in Germany and married Jacob Winter on June 4, 1922. Later that year she came to the United States and settled in the Cedar Falls area where the couple farmed. In 1933 they moved to the Little Cedar area and farmed there until retiring in 1966 and moving to Osage. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on October 6, 1937.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her husband, Jacob, Osage; one daughter, Caroline Winter, Osage; one son, the Rev. Ole Winter, Forest City; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hansine Anderson, Lugumkloster, Denmark; and one brother, Matis Matzen, Riceville.
