Funeral services for LuVern Kinter, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Baptist church in Osage. The Rev. W. Wilkinson and Pastor John Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Riceville.
Mr. Kinter died suddenly at his home Monday evening, March 4.

Funeral services for LuVern Kinter, were held on Thursday, March 7, 1985, at the Baptist Church in Osage, with the Rev. William Wilkinson and the Rev. John Gilbert officiating. Mr. Kinter died at his home on March 4, 1985.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Iowa, with military rites conducted by Osage VFW Post 7920.
Mr. Kinter was born on February 18, 1922, in Wayne Township to William and Barbara Staley Kinter. he grew up in the McIntire area, working for farmers and in St. Ansgar and New Haven. He worked for Mtichell County as a heavy equipment operator for 26 years before retiring a year ago.
In 1949 he married May Peters. She died in 1955. He married Vera Allstot on April 6, 1962.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans, the Osage American Legion Post, and a life member of VFW post 7920. LuVern was instrumental in activating the Osage VFW Post and building the Post's quarters on North 7th Street. He held many offices with that organization including past state commander, past district council member, past third district commander, and Osage Post commander. He was presently a national finance committee member. He was an all-state Commander in 1971-72. He was driver of the Senior Citizen's bus at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; one son, Jon, McIntire; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Janyce) Kollman, Osage, and Mrs. Thomas (Mary Kay) Badker, Dover Minnesota; one step-con, Willard "Bud" Allstot, Rosemount, Minnesota; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clyde (Dolores) Wheeler, Riceville; and two brothers, Everett, LeRoy, Minnesota, and Dale, Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and a brother, Leo.
