for Former
Osage Resident
OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for Charles Barenz, 73. Burial will be in the Riceville Cemetery. He died Sunday at a Cambridge, Minnesota hospital.
Mr. Barenz was born in Germany to Christina and George Barenz. He came to the United States with his parents, where they lived in McIntire. He has lived also in Little Cedar, Osage, St. Paul, Minnesota and Cambridge.
His first wife, the former Cora Colgrove, Orchard, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his second wife, Alice; a son, Claude, St. Paul; three brothers, Will, Osage; Willis, Little Cedar; and Fred, Riceville, and a sister, Dora Schmidt, St. Ansgar.

NOTE: His first wife Was Flora (Florence) Rushman Colgrove, the daughter of Henry and Rosetta (Baldwin) Rushman. Florence was born September 25, 1881 in Iowa and died February 19, 1923 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota.
The son Claude mentioned in the obit was Claude (aka Clyde) Colgrove, his step-son. The WWI Draft registration for him lists him as Clyde Claudna Colgrove born May 19, 1899 and living in Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa, with a nearest relative, his mother, Florence Barenz of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Florence and Claude are living with her parents in the 1900 Census in Bloomfield, Winneshiek, Iowa
His 2nd wife Alice (nee unknown) was born March 12, 1886 and died April 16, 1968 in Hennepin Co., Minnesota; mothers name was Duffy.
