DRISCOLL RITES TO BE MONDAY
OSAGE MAN DIES AT HOME AFTER ILLNESS

John J. Driscoll, 72, who died Friday night at his home in Osage following a long illness, will be conducted Monday morning at 9:30 at the Sacred Heart Church in Osage, the Rev. E. A. Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco.

He was born in 1870 at Charlotte, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Driscoll. He spent his boyhood and received his education there. In 1899, he was married to Rose Drumm in Monona. They lived on farms in Monona, Fonda, and Cresco, coming to Mitchell County in 1929 where they lived on a farm east of Osage. They moved to Osage in 1942.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters; Mrs. Harold Dick, Minneapolis; and Agnes Driscoll, Cedar Falls. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Also surviving are four brothers, Mike of Belmond; Arthur, Dennis and Francis, Clinton; and two sisters; Nora Driscoll, Clinton; and Mrs. Paul Gronis, Sterling, Ill. One brother, Neal, preceded him in death.

The body is at the Champion Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be said Sunday night at 8 o’clock by the Rev. Mr. Fitzgerald.

AT HIS HOME AFTER
MONTHS OF ILLNESS

After a lingering illness, accompanied by confinement to his bed for two weeks, J.J. Driscoll died at 8:05 Good Friday evening, April 23, at his home on East State Street.

Mr. Driscoll's daughters were called home a week before his death. They and his wife were with him when he passed peacefully into eternal rest.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church on Monday. The Requim High Mass was sung by his nephew, Rev. R. A. Ormsby of Belmond. His pastor, Rev. E.A. Fitzgerald, delivered an impressive sermon.

Burial services at the grave in Calvary Cemetery at Cresco were conducted by the Very Rev. A. J. McMahon, pastor of the Church of the Assumption in Cresco.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Harold H. Dick, Minneapolis; Agnes Driscoll, Cedar Falls; Arthur Driscoll, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gronis, Sterling, Illinois; James McCarthy, Chicago; Rose Ormsby, and Foster, Belmond; Regina Ormsby, Chicago, Mrs. Robert Kirshbaum, Garner; Mr. and Mrs. John Ormsby; Mr. and Mrs. John O'Hern; and Mrs. Edw. O'Donnell all of Mason City; and William P. Ronan of Decorah.

John Joseph Driscoll, son of Jeremiah and Hannah Driscoll, was born at Charlotte, Iowa, November 23, 1871. His education was in the rural schools of Clinton county and at Clinton Business college.

He was a bookkeeper in Chicago for a time, then worked at the carpenter trade for several years until his marriage to Rose Drumm of Monona. In 1901 they bought a farm at Fonda and lived there until 1903 when they purchased and moved onto a farm at Cresco. In 1929 they moved onto their farm near Osage. In December 1942, they moved into the home on East State Street where Mr. Driscoll died.

He is survived by his wife and . . . . [truncated]
