OBITUARY-WADE
Samuel W. Wade died at his home in Osage last Thursday April 30, 1914, after an illness of some six weeks. Those nearest to him knew that he was suffering from a serious disorder but hope of his improvment was cherished until a few days before the end.
Mr. Wade had lived in Osage about twelve years and was known by many and esteemed for his uprightness and kindness. He was born in Leeds, England, on August 18, 1837 and came to Rochester, New York, when 17 years of age. Later he lived in Albany, Wisconsin, and there enrolled in Co. F. of the 31st Wisconsin Voulunteer Infantry in 1862 and serving until the close of the war.
He was married to Ines E. Doolittle, December 1, 1867 and located in Webster City, Iowa, In 1868, living there until he came to Osage.
A brief memorial service was held at the home in Osage, conducted by Rev. Rolla E. Brown of the Baptist church and the body was taken to Webster City and laid to rest in the cemetery near by. Mr. Wade will be much missed in Osage, as will also his wife, who goes to Gravity, Iowa,for the present to the home of her son, Rev. Irving Wade.
