RETIRED FARMER DIES AT OSAGE
AGED MAN HAS GANGRENE -- PNEUMONIA FOLLOWS

Osage – A. C. Hansen, 80, died Tuesday at a Mason City Hospital having been hospitalized for 2 ½ weeks following gangrene, amputation of a leg and pneumonia. He had been in excellent health until this spring.

A. C. Hansen was born July 18, 1865, at Schleswig-Holstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Hansen. He came to the United States at the age of 8 and the family settled near St. Ansgar where he attended school. In 1894 he was married to Katie Mae Miller and the couple lived on the farm he purchased just prior to his marriage.

On that farm the couple spent its 49 years of wedded life until the death of Mrs. Hansen in September, 1943. In February 1945, Mr. Hansen retired to Osage to live in a home of his own, near his two daughters.

Surviving are a son, Harry, McIntire; three daughters, Mrs. Gilman Rust, St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Charles Lincke; and Mrs. Earl Thompson both of Osage, and one brother.

A.C. HANSEN DIES IN
MASON CITY HOSPITAL

Funeral services were held Friday at Champion Funeral Home and at the St. Ansgar Methodist church for A.C. Hansen, 80, who died October 23 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City following complications of major surgery. He was taken to Nissen Hospital October 12 and on to Mason City October 13. He submitted to major surgery October 16. He seemed to be recovering when he developed pneumonia on October 19.

Adolph Christian Hansen, son of Hans Peter and Matie Marie Hansen, was born July 16, 1865, in Schlesweig, Holstein, Denmark. As a small lad of five years, he came to America with his parents, who immediately took up residence in Mitchell county. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of St. Ansgar.

On September 18, 1895, he was united in marriage to Kate Mae Miller. The couple settled on a farm. For four years he resided on this farm until a few months following Mrs. Hansen's death in September 1943. Early in 1944, Mr. Hansen moved to Osage to be near his daughters.

Survivng are his three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Rust of St. Ansgar, Mrs. Norma Lincke and Mrs. Arvilla Thompson of Osage; one son, Harry, of McIntire; and one brother, Peter, of Turlock, Calif.

Burial was in St. Ansgar Cemetery.
